The mission of the San Francisco Cab Drivers Association
is to provide a unifying force to protect working conditions and fair business practices toward all cab drivers. We strive to promote a healthy taxi industry that will attract quality drivers and foster a well informed taxi population. We encourage respectful discourse in our community, even with our adversaries.
The Board of Directors
Barry has been driving a cab in the Bay Area since 1979 and started driving in San Francisco in 1987. In 2008, after 15 years on “the waiting list”, he received his “Prop K medallion”. He helped co-found the San Francisco Cab Drivers Association after the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) was handed authority of the industry in 2009. He was also co-chair of the SFMTA Taxi Advisory Council for its two year existence. Barry has been an active participant in taxi affairs over the course of his career. He continues to attend taxi related meetings, advocating for the interests of cab drivers at City Hall, the California Public Utilities Commission, the State Capital and elsewhere.
Jeffrey moved to San Francisco in 1996 after leaving his career as a youth counselor in Oakland and decided to try driving a taxi in The City. Based on schedule flexibility, meeting interesting people, and his love for San Francisco, he stayed with it. At a fellow driver’s recommendation, he decided to put his name on “the waiting list”. In 2012, fourteen years later, he was offered the opportunity to purchase a medallion in the SFMTA’s Medallion Sales Pilot Program. The protection of drivers rights, income and safety became an increasing focus for Jeffrey during his tenure as a driver and medallion holder. When the SF Taxi Commission was dissolved he become more active in the industry and joined the SFCDA in 2009. He was asked to join the Board of Directors in May of 2012.
Francoise has been driving a cab in San Francisco since 1991. Francoise joined the San Francisco Cab Drivers Association shortly after its founding in 2009. She has been an invaluable member of our board and has helped the organization in our efforts to represent and inform cabdrivers.
Jam has been a cabdriver in San Francisco since 1980. He helped found the San Francisco Cab Drivers Association in 2009 out of concern for cabdrivers and the state of the industry. He continues to be a solid anchor and vital member of this organization.
We look forward to open communication and healthy discourse between all regulatory bodies, taxi industry groups and the public to help create a better industry for everyone. Please feel free to contact us with any requests for information or interviews.
